Departing From Dystopian Science Fiction
Interesting
Category: Analysis
Tagged: Blade Runner, The Terminator, Minority Report
Recently, someone encouraged me to write a few science fiction pieces with a positive outlook, maybe because there is a dominance of dystopian science fiction; a preponderance of horror and gloom within the genre. I get told that science fiction is often too gloomy in its outlook, needlessly creating bleak visions of the future as if to deter our civilization's progress. We only need to name a few examples among movies for this to seem true: Blade Runner (1982), The Terminator (1984), Minority Report (2002), and a world of others. The conclusion is that writers of science fiction have consistently tried to send out warnings about where our civilization is going and we have ended up with a barrage of dystopian science fiction.

Michael Biehn on The Victim, William Friedkin, and his favorite antagonist role
Interesting
Michael Biehn began his acting career in 1977, and by the end of the '80s, he'd become a big-screen action hero, thanks in no small part to the trifecta of The Terminator, Aliens, and The Abyss. Most recently, Biehn has been bouncing between both sides of the camera, writing, directing, and starring in "The Victim."
